River Edge Police Department Descriptions
The River Edge Police Department under the command of Chief Tom Cariddi
is comprised of twenty-two sworn officers and six civilian employees.
Personnel are assigned one of three divisions: Patrol,
Investigations, and Administration.

Special Services
- Alarm Registration
- If your home or business is equipped with a Burglar, Fire, or Hold-up
alarm, you are required to register your alarm with the Police Department.
There is no charge for the registration. Forms may be obtained at Police
Headquarters or via mail upon request.
- A.E.D. (Automated Electronic Defibrillator)
- The River Edge Police Department has four A.E.D. units which are
carried in the patrol cars of on-duty officers. All patrol officers
have passed a training course in the use of the A.E.D. The units can
many times mean the difference between life and death for a heart attack
victim. With police officers often being the first emergency personnel
on the scene, it allows a defibrillator to be used within the first
few minutes after the victim has suffered a heart attack. This is the
time frame when defibrillation is most effective.
